廃棄物+廃棄物で紙をつくる

サステナブル時代の、連想、偶発、アイディエーション！

このごろ、SDGsなど、政府や自治体、企業の新たな目標として、世界各地で様々な動きがある。SDGsは、持続可能な開発目標であるが、私達も、サステナブルデザインのプロジェクト立ち上げ取り込んでいる。　テーマは、「廃棄物+廃棄物で紙をつくる、サステナブル時代の、連想、偶発、アイディエーション！」。　いろいろ調査した結果、サステナブルの観点から、和紙や手漉き紙などの伝統的な作法から新たなプロダクトが生み出させる期待は大きい。しかし、実際はどれも小規模で、持続性に欠け、型にはまっていることが多いのではないか･･･。　これからは廃棄物を多く出す、ものづくりはしてはいけない時代である。　それらを打解するにはアイデアが必要である！　制作ポリシーは、以下である。 ①手漉き製紙の技術を使って再生。（それは和紙と同じ作法） ②世界は、紙原料で溢れている。（有機物はなんでも紙にする） ③廃棄物、副産物、なんでもあり。（捨てられる運命にあるものを紙にする）　　本展では、そこから生み出される様々な紙、そこから生み出されるデザインや芸術などの結果をレポートする。

廃棄物+廃棄物＝紙の試行錯誤から、あらためて見えてくることは、廃棄物紙には、様々な特徴があらわれることである。多くの有機物を紙にすることにより、予想外の性質の紙が仕上がり、紙の特性を活用することができる。　この発想から、今後の廃棄物を資源に変えて循環させていく社会の実現に関するアイデアが生まれてこないだろうか。　現在の実験は、小さなスケールであるが、大きな廃棄物処理のヒントにならないだろうか。今後、どのようなリサイクルシステムがイメージできるか考えてみた。

Thinking about the Scalable System: Waste + Waste = Paper

Various global initiatives, such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), represent new objectives for governments, local governments, and businesses. The SDGs are the Sustainable Development Goals, and we have also begun a Sustainable Design Project to take these goals into consideration. The topic is; “Paper production from waste + waste – associations, coincidences and brainstorming in the age of sustainability!” As a result of numerous studies conducted on the topic of sustainability, it is anticipated that new products will be manufactured using the traditional processes of washi paper or handmade paper. In reality, they are all fragmented, unsustainable, and largely stereotypical… The time has come to stop producing items that generate a great deal of waste. The production philosophy is as described below. ① Recycle using a handmade paper manufacturing process. (It is the same method as for Washi). ② The world is replete with papermaking raw materials. (Any organic material can be used to make paper.) ③ Waste, byproducts, and all other materials are welcome. (Everything intended for disposal is converted into paper.) This exhibition showcases the various papers, designs, and works of art that have resulted from this philosophy.

Pondering the mechanism of scalability, “waste plus waste = paper.”

The trial-and-error process of “Waste + Waste = Paper” demonstrates that recovered paper possesses a variety of properties. By converting numerous organic substances into paper, it is possible to create paper with unexpected properties and take advantage of paper’s properties. This can generate ideas for the eventual realization of a society in which waste is transformed into a resource and recycled. The current experiment is conducted on a small scale, but could it serve as a model for larger-scale waste management? We pondered what kind of future recycling system we could envision.
